This is general information, not legal advice. Homeschool law is set state by state and it changes, sometimes in the middle of a school year. We are not your lawyers. The full set was read in one pass and that review date is printed in the file. We do not keep a separate date per state, so treat the one date as covering all fifty-one entries.

• The complications, written out. Plenty of states offer more than one legal path, and where they do we say so and give the paperwork for each. Alabama's church-school route is not the private-tutor route. Arizona's education savings account and the homeschool affidavit are mutually exclusive, and filing both is a mistake people make.

What is not in the file

No transcript workbook. No course descriptions. No report card, attendance log or portfolio forms. No records guide. No filled-in notice of intent for your district, because those forms come from your state and change faster than we could keep up with. No legal advice.

Is it editable? Word .docx, not a picture of a document. Print your state's page, mark it up, take it to a meeting.

What happens when a law changes? It will. Tell us and we will correct the entry and reissue the file to everyone who already owns it. For a document like this one, that is the only sensible deal.
