Wyoming requires nothing. Wyoming requires no notice, no registration, and no assessment. You may begin homeschooling without telling anyone. The detail below is what the statute actually says, so you can see for yourself rather than take our word for it.

What you file, and by when

No annual notice and no curriculum submission as of July 1, 2025. The Homeschool Freedom Act (H.B. 46, signed Feb. 27, 2025) amended Wyo. Stat. 21-4-102(b) to delete the yearly curriculum filing to the local board of trustees and the 'prima facie evidence of noncompliance' penalty. IMPORTANT, and commonly missed: H.B. 46 amended subsection (b) only. Subsection 21-4-102(c) still stands, so a parent WITHDRAWING a child who is currently enrolled must provide the district written consent to the withdrawal, which in practice means an in-person meeting with a district counselor or administrator. That is a one-time step at withdrawal, not an annual obligation, and it does not apply to a child who was never enrolled. Separately, a family that wants continued access to public school sports and extracurriculars still submits curriculum for that purpose.

Days or hours

None specified in statute. No minimum days or hours for home-based educational programs.

Subjects you must cover

Must be a 'basic academic educational program', a sequentially progressive curriculum of fundamental instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, civics, history, literature, and science (seven subjects). Programs may not be required to include content conflicting with, or exclude content consistent with, their religious doctrines.

Records you keep

No state recordkeeping mandate. Nothing must be submitted to or retained for the district. Keeping your own attendance, curriculum, and work samples is prudent but voluntary.

Testing or evaluation

None. No testing, no assessment, no evaluation, no district approval.

Diplomas and transcripts

No state diploma or credit rules for homeschoolers; the parent issues the diploma and transcript. The practical high-school pressure point is the Hathaway Scholarship: homeschool graduates cannot satisfy the standard 'success curriculum' transcript route through a district and instead qualify via the ACT/other alternative criteria set by the Wyoming Dept. of Education, contact a Hathaway advisor early, ideally by 9th/10th grade. Wyoming's Steamboat Legacy Scholarship Act ESA (2025) is a separate program with its own testing/reporting strings; enrolling in it changes your obligations.
